Kindergarten Registration

A kindergarten registration event will occur during April, with the specific date and time announced on local radio stations, and also in the Northern Neck News.  In order to register for kindergarten in Richmond County, students must meet the following requirements:

  • Must be five years old on or before September 30 of the current school year.
  • Photo ID of Parent/Guardian

All students enrolling in Richmond County Public Schools must provide two proofs of residency, a birth certificate, social security card, an up to date physical with an immunization record, and a completed registration form.  Proof of residency is shown by providing two or more of the following documents which reflect the physical address of the resident:

 

  • A U.S. or Virginia income tax return from the previous year
  • A U.S. Internal Revenue Service tax reporting W-2 form from the current year
  • A deed or lease agreement to the residence
  • A voter registration card
  • A receipt for personal property taxes paid within the last year
  • A payroll check stub issued by an employer within the last three months
  • A utility bill issue within the last three months (telephone, electricity, cable, satellite)
  • A letter from the electric company verifying the address

 

If you currently live in Richmond County and are for some reason are unable to provide two of the above proofs of residency, please contact William P. Brann at 333-3681.  Please be aware that Virginia state law makes it a crime to provide false or inaccurate information to enroll a student in school.
